About the Author

Dan Uvarov is a family doctor, writer, and nature observer based in Tallinn, Estonia. His lifelong interest in the quiet rhythms of the natural world inspired In Green Ink and Silence, a botanical field journal that bridges science, art, and gentle reflection.Dan brings a thoughtful, mindful approach to both medicine and storytelling, guided by the belief that careful observation — of patients, of plants, of the subtle patterns in everyday life — can restore balance and meaning. When not working with patients, he can be found walking local woodlands with Alma the dog, observing plants old and new, or exploring slow living traditions. In Green Ink and Silence is his first published book, created as an invitation to slow down, notice, and celebrate the overlooked marvels of the living world.

This book began as a quiet ritual: recording the names of plants I met on my walks with my loyal canine companion Alma. It slowly turned into a devotion — one I now share with you, leaf by leaf.
